la norme technique dans la création industrielle
The size of a chair or table, the width of a washing machine or the leg of an desk are conditionned by technical standards. Who is elaborationg these standards, what is the history of standardization and which role does it play in industrial design ?
Conscious or not, individuals and more particularly designers are constantly obliged to position themselves vis-à-vis a norm that influences the aesthetic and the object to be created. The designer may decide to comply with a prescribed standard or take distance to create a break with the existant. It appeals to the power of imagination, which is subject to the comparison of the possible and the impossible, the risk and the need. Overcoming a standard has great potential: a successful break can change, and sometimes even improve our way of living and interacting with objects.
